Pregnant eating?
I am 29 weeks pregnant and am craving a lot of sugar, like ice creams, cake, chocolate, anything really sweet. I have put on 8 kilos since I got pregnant, which I think is quite a lot, but it doesnt really bother me as much as the affects on the baby. I got tested for gestational diabetes and I dont seem to have it, so what are the affects on the baby, and what can i eat instead

Just dont get out of control like the girls at my job! I work around 4 pregos right now, thats not counting the other two that just had their babies. Those girl would overdo the whole “craving” thing.

There are a lot of sugar-free sweets these days. I was borderline for gestational diabetes, and have a huge sweet tooth! Sugar free ice cream, chocolates, and cookies saved me! They are using Splenda more and more, which is safer than aspartame.

I contsnatly find myself reaching for the sweets too. I had 2 ice cream cones today… Not to mention cookies, and rice crispies, and tons of other sweets. I find that yogurts and plain vanila ice cream helps to satisfy my sweet tooth without all the extra crap. I make sure that my diet is very balanced so for every sweet I eat i eat a green like celery and low fat peanut butter. I also love choco milk, but have drinking plain white milk because I know it is healthier. Even though you dont have diabetes now, doesnt mean you cant develop it tomorrow or next week. Just think about the baby when you reach into the fridge, no one expects a prego woman to behave 100% of the time. Try and eat as healthy as possible. Good luck.

My mom ate anything and everything she wanted and I am just fine. If you want to try something new, take vanilla ice cream and add just a little soy sauce to it, IT WAS SOO GOOD when i had it. But that doesnt give you a more healthy alternative to foods, but hey…

you should really talk to your doctor or nutritionist.
If your body is craving sugar like that–it means something is lacking.
like if you crave orange juice or oranges-anything citrusy–it means your body is lacking in vitamin c
I was ‘needing’ salt salt salt & I found out that I was anemic–even though I passed the anemia test at the beginning of my pregnancy.

I have read one suggestion that works well for me. Buy some kids sugar cereal that you like and eat a bowl of that. You’ll get the calcium from the milk so it wont be all bad for you. Dried fruit is a good idea too.
Being pregnant, pineapple is what ive been chowing down!
