They are all run by rich white men with a great deal of political power and the need to keep that power. Dont worry about this "new" threat as they are always trying to scare us. Remember the anthrax letters and mad cow disease. If we spent more time on working out solutions to these issues instead of running scared and saving our own asses then there would not be a problem. Of course we should prepare for it, but this requires an increase in the public health budget that the Republicans don't seem to put at the top of their priority list. What will probably end up happening, as is generally the case, is that the outbreak will occur and HMOs and pharmaceutical companies will earn ludicrous profits from the suffering of others, while the more vulnerable in our society are completely exposed.
